The office bearers of a co-operative are elected by the members on the basis of 'one member one vote'. As the membership of a co-operative is generally drawn from a local area, there is continuous and effective interaction between the members and the office bearers of the society. Meetings are well attended and voting by proxy is not allowed. As such the management of the society is democratic.
